My name is Chad; I’m the founder, maker, artist, marketer, writer, and designer of Raven Writ Games. I’m an Army veteran, outdoor educator, and a life-long gamer with a passion for crafting, storytelling and growing the community around me.

Raven Writ Games started as a gift to my players. My first dice bags acted as a gift basket for each of the players in a new D&D campaign. I fell in love with the process of sewing and leather working and I haven’t stopped. I love the puzzle that sewing a bag or journal can be and figuring out ways to put buttons on everything. I got started with dice pouches and journals; and am now making messenger bags and hats. It’s been an incredible journey so far and I can’t wait to find out what I’ll craft next.

As an outdoor educator, conservation and sustainability are important to me. While working in the outdoor gear industry I found that there is a fair amount of material that either gets thrown out or ends up going unused. I wanted to put it to use. I also can’t discount the influence of sewing Youtubers I watched while learning to sew. Many of whom promote breaking from fast fashion and repurpose or remaking second-hand items. Thus, my motto: Reuse, Repurpose, Remake was born. Most of the materials I use are either:

·         scrap material from the local gear industry (mostly the canvas and leather)

·         vintage (the metal coat buttons I use as closures)

·         up cycled (the zippers I use are taken from other garments and bags)

·         dead stock (like printed fleeces and flannel) I try and source those from warehouses (like S.R. Harris) when I can

At the end of the day I want to enable people to tell stories, and help them be as memorable as possible.
